Course content

Using & handling media and materials in art and design

Basic introduction to materials used in fashion and the exploration of some simple techniques.

Researching & Developing ideas through practical application of techniques

How to plan, research and develop creative ideas for original designs.

Working to a brief in art and design

Working on a set project to create a decorative fashion item.

Who is the course for?

Beginners with an interest in fashion who want to learn how to develop their own original creative ideas and obtain a qualification.

Assessment method

Continuous assessment of practical work throughout the course and a formal assessment of the final set project. All 3 units must be achieved before a certificate is awarded.

Entry requirements

An interest in fashion and design. Learners must have basic literacy skills and be able to write their own simple notes.

Future opportunities / career options

Progression on to a Level 2 course.

When the course is run?

Daytime, 3 hours per week. 36 weeks per year

How much does it cost?

Learners under the age of 18 are exempt from paying course fees.
For learners aged 18 plus, the cost of the course is £400. However, there are some exemptions. Please visit the Money Matters page for further details.
