Course content

Units have different credit values and to achieve the Certificate students must gain a total of 21 credits.

Mandatory units

  • Manage own performance in a business environment
  • Improve own performance in a business environment
  • Work in a business environment
  • Communicate in a business environment

Worth 9 credits

Optional units

Minimum of 4 optional units to gain 12 credits. Units include:

  • Use occupational health and safety guidelines when using keyboards
  • Produce documents in a business environment
  • Using office equipment
  • Maintain and issue stock

Who is the course for?

The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration qualification is aimed at anyone progressing from the Level 1 Certificate in Business and Administration qualification.

Assessment method

To gain this qualification you will need to evidence that you have undertaken each unit. A qualified tutor will assess you using:

  • Observations – direct observation by your tutor watching you produce work
  • Oral questions – direct questions asked by your tutor to check your understanding
  • Written questions – questions you must answer in order to check your understanding of the subject area
  • Recorded discussions
  • Video recordings

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved or are working towards an English and maths qualification at Level 2 or above.

Future opportunities / career options

Progression is to further education at a higher level or to find employment within the administration industry.

Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 9am – 12 noon starting Tuesday 12 September 2017

Course Fees

Courses are free for all students aged 16 – 18 (or up to 24 if you declare a disability and have an Education, Health & Care Plan).
