Course content

Units have different credit values and to achieve the Certificate students must gain a total of 21 credits.

Mandatory units

  • Manage own performance in a business environment
  • Improve own performance in a business environment
  • Work in a business environment
  • Communicate in a business environment

Worth 9 credits

Optional units

Minimum of 4 optional units (may be more*). Units include:

  • Deliver a presentation
  • Use occupational health and safety guidelines when using keyboards
  • Handle the mail
  • Using office equipment

12 credits must be achieved

Who is the course for?

The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration qualification is aimed at anyone progressing from the Level 1 Award or Certificate in Business and Administration qualification.

Assessment method

To gain this qualification you will need to evidence that you have undertaken each unit. A qualified tutor will assess you using:

  • Observations – direct observation by your tutor watching you produce work
  • Oral questions – direct questions asked by your tutor to check your understanding
  • Written questions – questions you must answer in order to check your understanding of the subject area

Entry requirements

Students must have achieved or are working towards an English and maths qualification at Level 1.

Future opportunities / career options

On completion of this course students will gain a Level 2 Certificate in Business and Administration. Progression is to Level 2 Diploma or Level 3 Certificate in Business and Administration or to find employment within the administration industry.
