Course content

  • Use materials, tools and equipment to develop craft techniques
  • Investigate creative enterprise and employment opportunities
  • Develop craft ideas
  • Create, present and evaluate final art and design item

Students will learn how to use raw materials, tools and equipment in a safe and competent manner / develop analytical and research skills / evaluate own work, develop ideas and learning through the craft process / develop an understanding of health and safety considerations in the art & design environment.

Who is the course for?

Students with an interest in researching, exploring and developing art and design techniques on an accredited course at Level 2.

Assessment method

Ongoing informal assessment throughout the course and formal assessment following completion of set assignments and units.

Entry requirements

Students who have achieved Level 1 Creative Craft / Art & Design qualifications or can demonstrate an ability to work at Level 2.

Students must have achieved or are working towards English and maths qualifications at Level 1.

Future opportunities / career options

External progression to Level 3 course / further education.

When does the course run?

Tuesday 9am – 12 noon in Terms 1 and 2; Tuesday 9am – 4pm in Term 3

Course Fees

Courses are free for all students aged 16 – 18 (or up to 24 if you declare a disability and have an Education, Health & Care Plan).
