Creative Knitted Accessories

Course content

Learners design and make small items/accessories of their own choice (tea-cosy, wrist warmers, socks, small bag, hat, toys, knitted flowers, fruits & sweets) using ready-made knitting patterns. They will explore short row shaping for sock heels, knitting 3D items, assembling pieces, creating surface decoration, including some simple crochet techniques for finishing off.

Who is the course for?

For learners who have completed the Advanced creative knitting course and would like to work on small projects of their choice. The course is also open to those who can knit with confidence.

Assessment method

Non- accredited – no formal assessment

Entry requirements

Knowledge of casting on, knit & purl, increasing & decreasing, ribbing is essential. Some experience in following written knitting patterns.

Future opportunities / career options

Self-employment, undertaking commissions, making and selling to order.

When the course is run?

Daytime, 3 hours per week, Summer term 2012

How much does it cost?

Learners under the age of 18 are exempt from paying course fees.
For learners aged 18 plus, the cost of the course is £60 (including registration fee) supply your own wool. However, there are some exemptions. Please visit the Money Matters page for further details.
The registration fee of £10 is still applicable to learners eligible for course fee exemptions.
