Inclusive Sports Development – Foundation Degree
The Inclusive Sport Development Foundation Degree is a 3 year, part time, higher education course accredited by Liverpool John Moores University. As well as being a standalone qualification the course also offers an opportunity to progress onto Liverpool John Moores University at Level 6 *.
The course is ideal if you want to combine studying for a degree qualification with employment or professional training (as a sports athlete or player) and it provides educational and vocational opportunities to learners from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Duration and Attendance
The qualification is part time over 3 years consisting of 1 day per week for lectures and tutorials.
The academic year is from September – December and January – May.
Course Structure
You will concentrate on developing a range of knowledge and understanding, intellectual, key/transferable and practical skills that will enable you to develop within a coaching, sports development or management role.

Admissions
You should have appropriate experience of working with children, young people or a specified client group that is suitable for the Sport Development or Coaching profession.
You must be 18 years of age (by the 31 August in the year of entry) and need to have studied Level 3 or above (A Levels, GCSE in applied subjects, International Baccalaureate, Key Skills Level 2/3, BTEC Awards, Certificates, Diplomas at Level 3, BTEC Nationals, OCR Nationals, NVQs at Level 2/3) for a minimum of two academic years.
Mature entrants (21+ years) are required to demonstrate evidence of recent study, relevant vocational or work experience and an interest in developing their career in sport. You should have GCSE English and Mathematics grade A* – C or equivalent (such as access courses, key skills qualifications, etc). However, if you haven’t you will be encouraged through courses at Greenbank College and the University Learner Support Network, to gain this within the period of the course.
