Course content
Mandatory units

- Developing leadership skills
- Lead a session to improve fitness

Who is the course for?
For people interested in working or volunteering as a sports coach. Learners must be aged 16 or above.
Assessment method
- Written assessment and interview
- Completion of log book
- 10 hours community sports volunteering
- Basic First Aid certificate
Entry requirements
Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1 or above.
Future opportunities / career options
Volunteer experience at sporting events and competitions. Progression to HSLA Level 3 or Exercise and Fitness. Sports Coaching, Personal Training and Teaching Assistant opportunities may arise on completion of this course.
When the course is run?
Daytime, half a day per week, 10 community hours and 1 day first aid training. The course runs for 1 term, and is available 3 terms per year.
How much does it cost?
Learners under the age of 18 are exempt from paying course fees.
For learners aged 18 plus the cost of the course is £120. However, there are some exemptions.
