Course Content

Mandatory units

  • Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Change hair colour
  • Style and finish hair
  • Set and dress hair
  • Cut hair using basic techniques
  • Perm and neutralise hair

Who is the course for?

Learners progressing from Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing and Barbering.

  • Observations
  • Oral questions
  • Written questions
  • Mandatory written paper

Entry Requirements

  • Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1 or above.
  • The course requires the ability to work as part of a team.

Future Opportunities / career options

Progression to further levels of NVQ or employment within the industry.

When the course is run?

Daytime, 3 days per week. 36 weeks per year.

How much does it cost?

Learners under the age of 18 are exempt from paying course fees.
For learners aged 18 plus, the cost of the course is £1600. However, there are some exemptions. Please visit the Money Matters page for further details.
