Promising Wheelchair Racer Enrols on Foundation Degree Course

Promising Knowsley Challenge wheelchair racer and wheelchair basketballer, Nathan Maguire is due to start lectures at Greenbank College this month as he begins the three year, part-time Foundation Degree, Inclusive Sport Development run in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).

Eighteen year old Nathan, who won this year’s London Mini Marathon (in record time), for the second year running and has represented GB at junior internationals said of his course choice:

“The course is perfect for me as I can fit it in around my other commitments, such as training whilst achieving a university qualification. At the end of the course I also have the option of continuing to study BA (Hons) Sport Development with Inclusion programme at LJMU, if I want to.”

Programme Leader Mark Palmer added:

“Nathan is a fantastic role model for disability sport and it’s great that he has enrolled on to the course.

Students are expected in for lectures one day per week, which means that fitting in with other responsibilities such as training or work is more manageable. We want our students to be successful and offer a supportive learning environment to help them to achieve all of their ambitions.”

There are still a number of limited places available on the course (immediate start).
