Christmas is a time of giving and students and staff at Greenbank College have organised a number of fundraising events to do their bit to support people locally and internationally.
Students from the Customer Service and Business Admin departments, co-ordinated by tutor Christine Williamson held a cake sale, raffle and table sale to raise £179.38. The proceeds will be split, to give a donation to children’s charity; KIND and homeless charity; The Whitechapel Centre.
Christine said ¬Å“It’s been great to see our students working together to help people in most need at this time of year¬Â
Plus, following the recent disaster in the Philippines, College Fashion and Textiles students, with the help of tutors Colette Dwyer and Ildi Szabo decided to raise money by selling craft and other items to friends, family and colleagues.
They raised a fabulous £416, which will be sent direct to the family of former student Rowena Troy, who was born in the Philippines. Her family home was badly damaged by the disaster and the money raised will be used to repair it.
