Our first group of students have successfully completed ABC Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts.
Run over 10 weeks, the course covers the professional context of counselling, communication skills in helping relationships and an introduction to personal development.
A recent discussion group held with some of the students who completed the course (pictured above) revealed some useful feedback:
Rachel, who is a project worker on the Working Futures Programme at MPH Training said:
“The course has been really helpful for my professional development, providing skills for me to use in my role of supporting young people and offering a great insight into the different types of counselling available.”
Her colleague at MPH, Colette, added:
“It really made me consider myself and the importance of focusing on my listening skills to be more effective.”
Hilary, Functional Skills Tutor for young people on Working Futures and Access to Work programmes at Local Solutions, was also positive:
“Doing the course gave me the time and space to think and was useful for my own skill development.”
Tracey, a care worker and Level 3 Health and Social Care student at Greenbank College spoke about several key things that the course had highlighted for her:
“The importance of your own ethics and values and reactions when dealing with situations. Also, to ask open ended questions and not give advice – just to listen.”
Everyone felt that completing the course had made them more effective in the workplace and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others:
“The course was really enjoyable and a great experience. The tutor was very supportive, passionate and knowledgeable.”
We are recruiting now for the next course, which starts on Tuesday 19th September, 4.30 to 7.30pm and is suitable for adults aged 19 plus, with an interest in a career in counselling or who use counselling within their current role.
Course tutor Lindsey Fox will be available on Wednesday 5th July from 4.30 to 6pm at Time Out Café Bar in Grenbank Sports Academy, Greenbank Lane, L17 1AG to chat about what’s involved and discuss whether the course meets your needs.
