To celebrate World Book Day 2017, a group of our students re-designed the front cover of their favourite book using block printing. Their designs are currently on display at News from Nowhere bookshop.
Hannah, Jake, Emily, Sam, Mia and Summer, who had chosen to do art as their enrichment activity, selected a wide range of books:
Hannah – Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Jake – Why the Whales Came by Michael Morpurgo
Emily – City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
Sam – Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J.K Rowling
Mia – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
Summer – Teen Titans by Bob Haney & Bruno Premiani
Tutor Lindsey Kinsella said:
“This was a great project, it gave students the opportunity to learn a new design technique and allowed them to think about what they read and enjoy.
The results are fantastic and it’s great for them to have their work displayed at a local community venue.”
