College students with Burns Night

Burns Night is an annual celebration of the Scottish poet Robert Burns who was born on 25th January 1759 and died on 21st July 1796 aged just 37.

Widely acclaimed as Scotland’s national poet his works included A Man’s a Man for A’ That, Ae fond kiss, Auld Lang Syne, To a Mouse and My Luve is like a Red Red Rose.

Some of our Catering students were given the opportunity to prepare and sample a traditional Burns Night menu; haggis, neeps and tatties and raspberry cranachan trifle

Tutor Judith Jenkins said:

“I try to make my lessons as interesting and informative as possible and linking them to special dates in the calendar is a great way to work to develop ideas and try new things,

The students get to find out about different foods and traditions and enjoy trying out different recipes.”
