Catering and Hospitality students used their baking skills to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support by organising a coffee morning on Friday 27 September.
Customer Service students also helped out by selling and serving the cakes to the hungry crowd! The vast array of cakes on offer included coffee and walnut cake, cookie and cream cupcakes, jam and cream sponge cake, chocolate flapjacks, gluten free chocolate brownies, strawberry & fresh cream scones and butter shortbreads.
One of our IT tutors also baked an amazing mug cake for a ‘Guess the Weight’ competition which was won by our new SEND Manager, Catherine Elliott.
Lead Catering & Hospitality Tutor, Alan Harris, said of the coffee morning:
“A lot of hard work, planning and dedication went it to the Macmillan charity by our entry level 3 students
alongside fellow Catering tutor Judith Jenkins, and level 1 and level 2 students who delivered a fabulous array of cakes in aid of a wonderful cause.
This planned event has given the students of the college a really rewarding experience, and all of us at the college are very proud of their end result on the day.”
A total of £135 was raised for Macmillan. Well done to all students and staff involved.
