Course Fees

All courses have a fee.

You may be able to study for free

You may be able to get your course fees waived. This is dependent on your personal circumstances the course you choose to study.

You will not need to pay a course fee if you are studying:

  •  English and Maths, up to and including Level 2 (GCSE equivalent), if you are aged 19 and over and have not previously attained a GCSE grade 9 – 4 or A* – C or have never taken them at GCSE level
  •  Your first full qualification at Level 2 if you are aged 19 to 23
  •  Your first full qualification at Level 3 (A-level equivalent) and you are aged 19 to 23

You may also be able to study for free if you are:

  •  In receipt of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA) in the Work-Related Activity Group or Universal Credit
  •  Unemployed and in receipt of a state benefit (other than JSA or ESA) who want to enter employment and need skills training to do so

Even if you are employed you may still be eligible to study for free

Entry, Level 1 and Level 2 courses may also be free for you if you are employed or self-employed and one of the following applies:

  • You earn less than £338 per month and are in receipt of a state benefit
  •  You earn less than £17,062 per year and live within the Liverpool City Region (Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, St Helens, Sefton and the Wirral)
  •  You earn less than £16,009 per year and live outside of the Liverpool City Region

24+ Advanced Learner Loan

If you want to study for a Level 3 qualification and are 24 or over on the start date of the course you may be eligible to apply for the 24+ Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees. This loan will cover your course fee. You will only pay your loan back once you start earning more than £25,725.

Loan Bursary Fund

If your courses is funded by the 24+ Learner Loan, you may also be eligible to apply for the Loan Bursary Fund for help with some costs while you are studying, for example, childcare, travel or trips related to your course.

Discretionary Learner Fund

You may be able to get help with other costs related to your course such as:

  • Childcare
  • Travel Costs

This is dependent on your personal circumstances and is at the discretion of the City of Liverpool College.
