Who is the course for?

People aged 16 – 18

People aged up to 24 who declare a disability and have an EHC Plan

Adults aged 19+

This course designed to recognise students’ practical skills in using information technology to carry out straightforward tasks in a range of vocational contexts. The course is flexible and has unit-based approach, which allows students to work towards individual units. Using ICT Entry 3 is suitable for all learners and for those who are new to using ICT and who wish to gain accreditation for newly acquired skills.

Assessment method

All units are centre-assessed and externally moderated. Candidates will be required to carry out practical IT tasks that demonstrate they are able to meet all of the assessment criteria. Students can have unlimited attempts at the assessment tasks until all criteria have been met.

Entry requirements

This qualification has been designed to be accessible to learners who are entirely new to using ICT and therefore no prior experience or knowledge of ICT is required. However all students must an initial assessment to ensure the course is a suitable level for them.

Future opportunities / career options

Progression to ITQ Level 1 – Office Applications, ITQ Level 1 – Multimedia, Level 1 Award in Social Media and/or E3 Functional Skills

Course Fees

Courses are free for all students aged 16 – 18 (or up to 24 if you declare a disability and have an Education, Health & Care Plan).

For people aged 19+ there will be a course fee. You may be eligible for fee remission. Call 0151 733 7255 for details.
