Ascentis  Level 2 is a stepping stone qualification and is aimed at learners who may have gained a Level 1 qualification but may need some additional time to develop their mathematical skills before moving up to the next level. This would normally be City and Guilds Level 2.

Assessment method

Each module is assessed by test paper. These are marked by the tutor and if a pass grade is achieved will count as an Award at Level 2 in that module. The Level Two Certificate in Mathematical Skills is awarded to learners who achieve a minimum of 13 credits using any combination of the Level 2 Awards.

Entry requirements

A BKSB assessment which indicates that the learner is capable of working comfortably at this level or a Level 1 qualification from an awarding body such as City and Guilds.

Future opportunities / career options

This qualification will enable learners to progress to a full Level 2 and then onto Maths GCSE. The range of mathematical skills achieved will provide numeracy skills which are required in the workplace.
