Congratulations to Greenbank College’s Information, Advice and Guidance Team – Christian Adeniran, Alison Stoddart, Joanne Wood and Tom Waddell who achieved a successful Matrix re-accreditation in December. The Matrix Standard is valid for three years and is the quality framework for the effective delivery of information, advice and / or guidance on learning and work.
The team also received a grade 2 ‘good’ in a National Careers Service quality review, carried out in January.
Particular strengths highlighted were:
- Excellent leadership and management
- Highly effective communication and team working
- Innovative partnership working to deliver the service
- Robust quality systems
Positive feedback from clients included:
¬Å“The careers staff are so friendly and very helpful. It’s like a first place to go when you need to get help to decide something. I wouldn’t know what to do if they weren’t there. They’ve changed my life¬Â.
¬Å“They always listen and they always have time for you, even if it sounds confused¬Â.
¬Å“I was depressed and my Job Centre PA sent me to Greenbank. It was the best fluke ever because it changed my life¬Â.
¬Å“I have a criminal record and the doors were slamming in my face over and over again. These were the only people to listen to me. I was honest, and they listened. I’m now doing a qualification that will help me to be self-employed. I have never felt judged and the information I have had has been excellent¬Â.
Positive feedback from partner agencies included:
¬Å“They really ‘get’ the support needs for students. Much of the work of explaining is unnecessary with Greenbank¬Â
¬Å“They do go the extra mile for individuals. Communication is great and if they can’t help, there are always lengthy discussions about alternatives.¬Â
