The Pass It On Community Reporters caught up with Catering student, Emily Fawcett to ask her about her work placement at Liverpool football club.

On her placement, Emily works in the café inside the stadium, serving food and cooking for staff and players at Liverpool football club. There is a lot of prep work to do and involves working long hours. Emily has developed a lot of skills on the placement, such as ways to communicate and engage with other colleagues, following instructions and coping with working under pressure.

In terms of Emily’s future career ambitions, she said the placement was a good thing to put on her CV, it gave her good experience of working in catering, and also what to expect in future jobs. Emily’s advice to other students starting a work placement is to be confident and it does not matter if you make mistakes because you learn from them.

Emily did her placement to learn extra skills and develop her CV. Her highlight has been serving Daniel Sturridge food that she had prepared and she hopes to meet other football players on the placement. She started her placement in September and will continue there until the end on the season.
