Hairdressing students took part in the Annual Hair Show recently displaying their skills with some creative hairstyles.
The show, which was held at Palm House, Sefton Park, was attended by staff and students of Greenbank College, friends and family as well as visitors to the Palm House.
The students are studying towards Levels 1, 2 and 3 Hairdressing qualifications and each level focused their designs on a specific theme. The theme Level 1 students chose was Nature which included a hairstyles using flowers and butterflies. Level 2 students embraced a Sweets theme by creatively incorporating sweets such as chocolate, candy floss and liquorice Allsorts into their designs. Level 3 students wowed with their Oriental theme with designs including a pagoda and a bonsai tree!
All the students who took part put in lots of work and effort into their designs and prizes were given to the best designs from each level.
The winners were:
Level 1 – Leona
Level 2 – Nia
Level 3 – Rachel
The winning hairstyles were chosen by two past Hairdressing students Jarnah Ismail and Helen McGuire. The prizes were bought with funds raised by staff and students of Greenbank College as well a generous donation from Veronica Hughes who is a client at Salon HQ.
Hairdressing tutor, Katherine Pulman commented:
“Well done to everyone who participated in this year’s Hair Show. The students should be proud of their achievement today especially the Level 3 hairdressing students who worked hard preparing for the event. The progression of the learners this year has been fantastic and this has been shown in the annual Hair Show.”
The Oriental theme was also used to decorate the Palm House with lanterns in a variety of styles provided by Art and Design students from the college.
Warmest thanks go to everyone who helped organise the event and especially to the lovely people at the Palm House who let us hold the event in such a wonderful venue.
