Hidden Talents – Shauna Hogan

Congratulations to College student Shauna Hogan, who was presented with the Disability Swimmer of the Year Bronze Award at the 2014 Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Swimtastic Awards recently.
Shauna, who has been swimming competitively for 4 years is a fantastic role model for other students at Greenbank.
She swims for both Liverpool and Cheshire Penguins and has been selected for the GB Special Olympics Swimming Team on 2 occasions. In 2012 she went to Puerto Rico for the World Special Olympics World Aquatic Championships and won 2 Bronze and 1 Silver medal.
In June of this year she competed for the GB Team in the Southern Californian Special Olympics Invitational Games in Los Angeles, winning 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Medals.
Shauna also won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the UK Special Olympics in 2013, The Down Syndrome European and National Championships,2013 and 2014 and regularly takes part in swimming galas all over the country.
Shauna’s Dad, John said “Shauna works extremely hard on her swimming and trains for up to 10 hours a week, travelling twice a week to Northwich to train with the Cheshire Penguins”.
