Frequently Asked Questions

During this uncertain time, we will be adding any frequently asked questions for your information. If you have any questions, not addressed below please do not hesitate to contact us.

Do I need to report my absence?

Yes. We still need to know if you are too unwell to complete work at home or have symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Please call 0151 733 7255 with your name and the reason why you are unable to complete work/log on and/or if you have any symptoms.

Should I be attending college?

Current guidelines say that we can have students on-site so you should attend college as normal. Some students may still need to learn at home depending on their circumstances.

Can I still apply for a course starting in September 2021?

We are continuing to accept applications for courses starting in September 2021. Applications can be submitted using the form available on our website at www.greenbankcollege.org.uk/apply

We can now offer face-to-face interviews and assessments and offering taster days. However, we cannot host large groups.

Are you having any Open Events?

Yes. However, we can currently only host Virtual Open Events. Visit our events page to find out when the next event will take place. If you are a school or large group, you can arrange a talk with Alison. Please email alison.stoddart@greenbank.org.uk for further information.

I have an EHCP, what will happen about my annual review? 

We are continuing to review EHCPs face-to-face, via Zoom and telephone depending on individual circumstances.

Will I still have access to advice and support?

Yes. Staff are available to support you in class. If you are learning at home, you will have be able to contact your tutor by email.

Careers, Advice and Guidance, Welfare Support and Safeguarding staff are on-site if you need them.

Will I still receive free college meals?

We will will be posting out a £10 supermarket voucher next week (w/c 30/3/20) to those who usually receive free college meals. From w/c 20/4/20 we will send out £20 vouchers to cover a 2 week period.

How do I continue my work at home?

We will be supporting students who are not attending college to study at home. This will be in the form of online learning using Google Classroom. If you have difficulty with accessing online learning, we will make arrangements to send out paper based resources. Please let us know if you will have any issues accessing online resources. Study materials will be chosen to ensure that you stay on track to gain your qualification.

Your tutor will send you information by email so please ensure that you check it regularly.

You will be able to contact your tutor directly using your College email address in Gmail. Your tutor will contact you with their details.

What happens if I have a Safeguarding concern?

If you have a safeguarding concern please contact the Send Manager, Lisa Turner at the college, by telephone on 0151 733 7255 or by email at lisa.turner@greenbank.org.uk.

How long will I need to learn at home?

If you are learning at home, we are uncertain how long you will have to do this. We are closely following advice from Government and Public Health England. We will update as and when we have further information.

Is Salon HQ and the Academy open?

Salon HQ will be reopening on Tuesday 13 April.
