Reaching out into the community

Greenbank College does a lot of work to reach out into the local community to let people know what’s on offer by going to events on a large and small scale. College staff and learners recently attended ‘the Big Recruitment Fair’ at the Echo Arena and will take information about services to Parklands Health and Wellbeing event on 14 and 15 February. Look out for us at a venue near you!
We have also recently employed bi-lingual health champions to work with BME residents. Funded by the local Primary Care Trust, the main role of Harkit Kaur-Singh, Paulina Cieslik, Noor Islam, Mohamed Mohamed, Ismail Mohamed and Faisa Alaslay was to increase the take up of NHS health checks for BME residents in the Picton area. During the 6 month programme, ending January 2012 they made contact with 921 people and 548 agreed to a health check. People were also given information about the services on offer at Greenbank College.
