Self Portraits

Congratulations to the 6 disabled students who have created fabulous self-portraits in just 5 weeks. The art sessions are part of an organised programme, which also includes sport and cookery.
Student Janet Newland said “I love coming to Greenbank, I had a stroke about 3 years ago and it’s important for me to get out of the house, meet people and keep my mind active. Painting a self-portrait has been particularly good for me in accepting who I am now. I find painting really relaxing and I’m very pleased with the end result”
Everyone involved have enjoyed the sessions and are proud of their work, which will be displayed in the College canteen for the next 2 weeks. Students can then take their canvas home.
At the end of the project approximately 24 disabled people will have had the chance to create a self-portrait. The next group of 6 have just started their canvases, which should be completed before Christmas.
