The University of Liverpool (Facilities, Residential and Commercial Services), Novus Property Solutions, Dulux and Integral came together to give something back to their local community as part of a social value initiative with The Greenbank Project to repaint the college canteen.
Greenbank students were involved in picking out a colour scheme and Dulux kindly donated the paint, with Novus supplying some professional decorators to mentor our students and show how them how to prepare and paint the canteen area. Integral supplied some splash plates for the bottom of the doors and also donated a lectern, with Benson Signs offering to create a plaque with Greenbank’s logo to be affixed to the lectern. We will use this beautiful new lectern when we celebrate the achievements of our students in our annual awards ceremony.
It was amazing to see how our students got involved in the painting and how they acquired new skills and confidence. In addition, some of the Novus team took the time to learn some basic sign language from our Communication Support Workers so that they could communicate better with our deaf students. This project underscores how we can all benefit from building back better, working together and getting involved in corporate and social responsibility.
