World Book Day

This Thursday is World Book Day and all departments at Greenbank College are getting involved by creating a display in their classrooms to represent one from the list of 50 books chosen by young people in 2014 as a ‘Write of Passage’.

Maths tutor Mark Canty and his students have selected ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’. Mark said:

“This is a brilliant book which tells the story of Christopher, an intelligent young man, who happens to have autism. When the dog next door is killed with a garden fork, Christopher is determined to solve the mystery of who did it.

The book also links to maths because the chapters are numbered using prime numbers rather than the usual sequence – so it’s been useful to introduce students to the concept of primes.”
