Greenbank College catering students ready to serve up their delicious cakes in the College canteen

Our Catering and Hospitality students were delighted to join in with Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on 30th September by making a wide range of tasty treats for sale to the rest of the College.

Students and staff were tempted by mini Victoria sandwich cupcakes, rocky road bites, lemon drizzle cake and chocolate and orange cake – all freshly baked.

Tutor Judith Jenkins explained the reasons why her students had decided to support this national event:

“Organising an event like this is a really good way of teaching students a number of skills such as planning and promotion. From a catering perspective it offers a great opportunity to try new recipes and develop skills.

It also helps to raise awareness of the need to raise money to support charities that provide essential services to people in need.

Finally, and most importantly we all worked as a team and had fun!”

A total of £122.80 was raised to help Macmillan Cancer Support.
