Greenbank College is committed to providing you with the chance to test your career ideas in the real world of work. This is what we call ‘work experience’. It is a chance to try something before you buy into it.
Work experience is an immersive experience (‘in-person and hands-on’) which helps you to visualise the world of work, explore different job roles and develop opportunity awareness (‘what’s out there for me?).
To support our achievement of Gatsby Benchmarks 5 and 6, we are committed to ensuring that our learners have meaningful encounters with employers and hands-on experiences of the workplace through industry visits, meet the professional talks and work placements that link to their aspirations and area of study.
There are a variety of work placement opportunities on offer to suit all needs, including external work placements, internal work placements and student ambassador opportunities.
- Sophie Preece is our Work Placement Coordinator.
- Learners can request a copy of our Work Placement Brochure from Sophie and complete a placement application form, specifying their top 3 employer/job role preferences.
- Learners will then be invited for an interview and matched with an employer.

👉 One of our Level 1 Catering students has just completed a six-week work placement at The Bagelry in the heart of Liverpool’s vibrant Chinatown.

“Dylan has been great on this placement and is a valued member of the team. He is motivated to develop his skills and to learning new things. Dylan is very friendly and positive and gets on with the team very well. Always working with a smile. Dylan has been proficient in many areas such as coffee/ barista skills, kitchen prep work and customer service. It has been lovely having him here! Dylan has been an absolute joy to work with – We will all miss him at Nelson Street!”
