This Level 2 course is intended to provide learners with further underpinning knowledge and skills specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills. It is designed to support progression to further learning and ultimately to work in sports and active leisure or other related sectors.

  • Developing your personal fitness

  • Introduction to self-employment

Who is the course for?

  • People aged 16 – 18
  • People aged up to 25 who declare a disability and have an EHC Plan

What are the entry requirements?

  • Sport, English and Maths qualifications at Level 1 or above.
  • A willingness to take part in inclusive sport and exercise sessions.

How will I be assessed?

Methods of assessment include observations, assignments, group, individual written tasks and formative assessments. A portfolio of evidence will be developed and units assessed at agreed points of the course. There are also work experience opportunities provided in assisting at Greenbank Sports Academy.

What could I progress to?

After you have achieved the Level 2 Sport and Active Leisure qualification, you could progress to:

  • Level 3 Sports qualification or specialised qualification in coaching
  • Apprenticeship
  • Employment

What is a Study Programme?

If you are aged 16 – 18 or up to 25, declare a disability and have an EHC Plan this course will form part of your study programme.
