What will I study?
The Edexcel GCSE in Mathematics (9-1) qualification requires students to:
- Develop knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts, including:
- Number
 - Algebra
 - Ratio and proportion and rates of change
 - Geometry and measures
 - Statistics
 - Probability
 
 
- Use their knowledge and understanding to make connections between mathematical concepts
 
- Apply the functional elements of mathematics in everyday and real-life situations
 
Who is the course for?
- Level 1 or Level 2 functional skills qualification and passed an initial assessment
 - School leavers who have already achieved a grade D / 3
 - Young people who require a Maths GCSE for employment or progression to an apprenticeship or further learning
 
What are the entry requirements?
To start on this course you need to have Level 2 functional skills and show at Initial Assessment that this is a suitable level for your current skills. You will be asked to complete a diagnostic assessment to confirm that this is the correct level.
How will I be assessed?
The GCSE maths course will be assessed through three equally-weighted written examination papers at either Foundation tier or Higher tier.
