Supported Internship success story: from Level 2 IT student to full-time NHS apprentice!

Department: Subject Access (Band 2 and Band 3-level work) Eleanor completed a Level 2 IT qualification with Greenbank College in July 2023 and applied for a #supportedinternship with one of our host employers. Eleanor has been able to put all of her data entry and ITC skills to amazing use during her placement by transferring patient information onto databases, processing requests for health records and using a wide range of computer software and interfaces.
Eleanor’s departmental manager stated that:“The whole intern experience has been so rewarding not just for me, but for the entire team. Eleanor has been a breath of fresh air and an excellent addition to the team. Eleanor has excellent communication skills, is always willing to listen and has picked things up so quickly, which I must admit has surprised me. I expected her understanding of the role to take a little while longer. However, this has not been the case. I cannot recommend the DFN Project SEARCH internship enough to other managers within the Trust.”
Speaking about our supported internship employability coordinator and job coach, Mr Caton went on to say:“[…]both you and Adam have always been on hand for support, which has also been a great help.”
Outcome: Eleanor has secured a 2-year paid #apprenticeship within that very department with a view to securing full employment at Band 3 level
