We are delighted to announce that Greenbank College has retained the Matrix Standard for the quality of our careers and IAG provision. This is the first time that we have undertaken a whole-college audit, as opposed to the smaller scope assessment, so we are particularly proud of this achievement.
Many thanks to all members of the staff and student body who contributed to the Matrix Accreditation process on Monday and Tuesday this week. Massive thanks also to our assessor for being so approachable and insightful. The strengths listed in the report are too numerous to mention, but here are a few highlights:• “The Careers Strategy is now established and is both systematic and rigorous. All staff are aware of the importance of the strategic approach to IAG and it is driving forward the work-related curriculum, whilst recognising the individual needs of students”.
• “There is a carefully planned and extensive range of events and experiences to support the IAG needs of students. All staff have a role in planning and promoting these activities, which are bespoke, targeted and effectively evaluated.”
•”The ethos and culture of Greenbank is apparent from first steps into the building. Staff and students are mutually respectful and while students’ learning needs and disabilities are recognised and supported, it is their skills and abilities as well as future aspirations that drive the IAG work. Students are encouraged to achieve their goals and much use is made of alumni who are able to demonstrate their journeys into work, self-employment and independent life experiences.”
