Our students had an immersive experience learning about different job roles in the #NHS and specifically in Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
Karen talked about the different clinical and non-clinical jobs in the #NHS and tested our student’s knowledge of some unusual roles at Alder Hey, such as Art Therapist, Music Therapist and Chaplain.
Gill talked about her own personal career journey from starting a YTS scheme in her early teens to gaining an MBA and becoming the Head of Learning & Development in the Widening Participation Team.
Anne -a retired health professional- talked about the benefits of #volunteering at Alder Hey and the rewarding nature of working with chidren.
Peter from The King’s Trust talked about his role providing guidance and support to young people considering a career in healthcare.
Joanne from the Work Experience Team at Alder Hey inspired our learners to consider placements as an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in a real work environment.
Russell stole the show with his training manikin. A lifelike toddler which can be digitally controlled to simulate different responses and health warning signs.
We were also lucky enough to be visited by members of the Portering and Allied Health Professional Teams.
A massive thanks to Karen for organising this insightful day, where are learners were able to:
– develop opportunity awareness
– explore different roles and responsibilties
– be inspired to research and plan their own career journeys
